The Civil War-era property has a hidden bunker-and ghosts sightings, of course. Many apparitions are seen here, including a man in a long coat and top hat and a young girl footsteps have been heard on empty floors above. Fred moved into an assisted-living center in 1989 and passed away in 1994, only to return to his beloved home. The Bissman Building, once a grocery warehouse built in 1886, is said to be very haunted ghost hunts and tours are offered here.
Just remember to tip the housekeeper before you go. The Pfeiffer House restaurant was built in 1905 as the Pfeiffer family home, and is said to be haunted by Fred Pfeiffer, who grew up in the house. Leave in the middle of the night if you must. You may feel a chill, see the unexplainable, or hear something go bump in the night. Leave the candy and costumes at home (or bring the candy for comfort) and book a night at some of the creepiest places to visit in your state. The 1890s Twin City Opera House is said to have been haunted since at least the 1960s, when a janitor wan out never to return. If you’re feeling brave, you can pay them a visit… just don’t expect a good night’s sleep.
Whatever you call these long-term guests-ghosts, spirits, or specters-they linger in the rooms, hallways, and grounds of the most haunted hotels in every state, eternally restless.
